English as a Second Language

This program is for students who have recently arrived in Ontario schools from countries where the usual means of communication is a language other than English. The program helps students develop the proficiency in English required for success in the secondary school education program. Students are assessed on an individual basis upon registration at the secondary school, and placed according to their needs.
