Magnet Program | Elmira Life and Work Program |

|
One of the newest Magnet Programs is designed to make secondary school more accessible to one of the unique cultural communities in Waterloo Region. This magnet, which serves a growing number of Mennonite students, frames its course work around the needs of rural farming families – and allows students to earn co-op credits by working on their family farm. Much of the material in this Magnet is geared towards independent learning, especially in the senior grades. But when students attend lessons in the classroom, they are taught in a separate facility from the mainstream student population. Through this unique arrangement, Mennonite students have the opportunity to preserve their cultural integrity, while developing the literacy and numeracy skills that make graduates highly employable to local businesses.
